She was leaving everything behind. Her life was over. She smiled sadly to herself. Did she ever have a life? Her one true love was gone. And she had killed him herself. She caught a sob in her throat and quickly stifled it. Her heart still hurt as she thought of the friends she had left behind. But they would be okay. In a way, they were stronger than she was. They would be fine. They had each other. And she had no one. She sighed, and felt her eyes grow moist. She just wanted to forget everything. She wanted to forget it all. Just forget everything and start over. Her eyelids grew heavy with exhaustion, and bunching up her jacket to use as a makeshift pillow, she leaned her head back, allowing the movement of the bus to rock her to sleep. Just forget it all. Just Forget.
And slowly... she began to drift away.
"Giles is dead. Killed in a routine
Slaying. The Slayer is gone. And we are alone. In light
of these new circumstances, we, the group known as the Slayerettes, do
hereby make this promise that is considering binding and forever. We have
no choice.
We vow to continue to protect Sunnydale from
those who would tamper with the Hellmouth, until the original Slayer is
found or a New one is chosen.
I Willow Rosenberg, recognize my calling
as a Watcher, and vow to stay in Sunnydale to train the new Slayer, or
find the old one.
I Cordelia Chase, recognize my aptitude
for Slayer training, and vow to fulfill the Slayer's duties until a New
Slayer is found, or the Old One is found.
I Alexander Harris, vow to find Angel,
and find a way to bring him back, to assist Willow Rosenberg. I also vow
to assist with any duties as needed.
I Osmond Smith, do vow to find the new
Slayer, and assist with duties as needed.
We also recognize this vow with a bracelet given to Willow. Should we ever be needed after out five years of service is over, she shall send this to us, and we will come directly, no matter where we are or what we are doing. We vow this with our own blood.
