Summary:
 Born into a rich family and promptly ignored, Shane has struggled for years with her sexual identity. Enrolling into high school as a boy, and then getting kicked out when the truth was revealed, Shane, then known as Jack, ran away, living day to day by pulling 'tricks' on Santa Monica Blvd. She was saved and taken in by Lex Luthor, a billionaire who befriended her, and sent her to hair dressing school, giving her a chance to start a new life, as Shane.
 In West Hollywood, Shane has lived by her own rules, pushing away all forms of intimacy but her friendships. Notorious for her Casanova ways, Shane's goodness and loyalty has nevertheless earned her her own family. Among the group was Marina Ferrer, the mysterious owner of the cafe Shane frequented. A late night revealed Marina's true past, and the true identity of Marina's sometimes 'lover', Sydney Bristow. Finding an instant connection with the shy spy, Shane found genuine friendship, that accidentally developed into something more when she and Sydney shared a drunken kiss.
In love with a married woman, Shane dismissed the kiss as a mistake, a mistake that was revisted when her affair went bad and a terrible tragedy brought her closer than ever to Sydney. Despite her intense attraction, Shane is intent on trying to move on: Sydney has expressed that she is straight, and Shane is not prepared to have her heart broken yet again.

Summary:
 Jenny Schecter arrived in West Hollywood intent on making her dreams come true: she would become a writer and marry her faithful boyfriend Tim. That security was shaken to it's core when she met Marina Ferrer. Unable to deny her desire for the European, Jenny fell into a torrid love/hate affair, hating herself for cheating and yet unable to stop. When Tim discovered the indiscretion, Jenny abandoned Marina and married Tim, but Tim, unable to get over the cheating, left her soon after.
 Returning to Marina and begging her forgiveness, Jenny was finally read to settle down with Marina, only to have her heart broken yet again when she discovered Marina had a longterm partner.
Unable to admit that she was in love with Marina, and hurt when she discovered Marina's other lover, Sydney, Jenny chose instead to move on, struggling to accept her sexuality by dating both men and women. Too late, Marina admitted her love for her, and Jenny, desperate to get over her, rejected her advances. Still, even Jenny's boyfriend and girlfriend will tell her, Marina still resides in her heart, despite all her attempts to forget about the amoral European.
